Lloyd David 37420240 Co F Inf. - APO 759 Postmaster, New York New York Mrs Lloyd Davis (Sender's name) 817-19 St. S.E (Sender's address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa March 24, 1943 (Date) Dearest, Spring is still with us, so maybe we won't have another return to winter right away. In fact, it is threatening rain. Busy day again. Just the usual office things. Wish we had more writing space and I would tell you incidents on the more interesting clients. Will save that until you are home. Supper at Hazels with Myrtle. Then home early. Took Myrtle home first as she has a sprained ankle. Fixed up the furnace and was soon in bed. Good sleep without a single interruption, then up and writing this letter. I was in the place you fixed and it was good. I think of you millions of times a day consciously, and then of course you are there all the rest of the time too. Am I there helping you? Don't forget the Lord's prayer. It always fits and as you think about the petititions in it, they really cover everything. It helps make me tough to wait for my laddie and try to think of and do the things he would want or like. Must be spring - I got a black straw hat with red flowers! Last week I got an umbrella. I hate to spend money on either of those things, but they are necessary sometimes. May take the umbrella (blue and red!) with me this morning. Lund's boy is in the service now. Geo Fisher has a date for his blood test. The town USO opened and soldiers are becoming common sights since 400 - more later - got to Coe. We are much more war conscious than when you were here. To the very best of husbands, Love, Laura V...-MAIL POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT PERMIT NO. 1
