Print the complete address in plain block letters in the panel below, and you return address in the space provided. Use typewriter, dark ink, or pencil. Write plainly. Very small writing is not suitable. No. 10 (CENSOR'S STAMP) Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. F. Inf. - APO 759 Postmaster, New York New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis (Sender's name) 817 19th St. SE (Sender's address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa march 27, 1943 (Date) Dearest, Saturday night now, worked until noon. Then looked for curtains, took home some samples and went to get Hazel to help me figure and decide. We decided on some plain panels like (similar I mean) our bedroom ones then some figured cloth for drapes. Just the four windows on the north side. Then we had a snack at Garnets and went back to Killians to get the curtains bought and return the samples. I brought home the drapes but the panels won't come until later. She went to a Camp Fire Show and I came home and did housework. Then Hazel and Lydia [Krig?] came from the show to our home for visit and refreshments. We listened to Madame Chong speak in San Francisco to 15,000 audience. I wish you were here to consult about little details. It is more fun then to fix up things. But I figure you want things kept up all the time. And the things I do or get I always calculate how I think you'd like them. I don't want things you would not like. I'll not change anything that will be strange or queer; I'm just figuring on doing things the way we always do. Through Mrs Fisher Miss Dunlap sends her greetings to you. I wasn't home when Miss D visited Fishers the other day. Fishers send their greetings too. The press tells today of two new, wonderful weapons we have. Maybe they will help get this over faster. Then all the millions like us can have their companions at home again. I love you and miss you but wait patiently for us to be together again. Our home will always be a real home. Love, Laura V...-MAIL POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT PERMIT NO. 1
