Inf. - APO 759 Postmaster, New York New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis (Sender's name) 817 19th St. SE (Sender's address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa March 28, 1943 (Date) Dearest, Sunday night and about bed time. Ardy and Hazel just left. Hazel and I made an angel food cake and Ardy came in time to help dispose of it! It turned out better than any angel food I'd ever made. Of course there is a lot left. But if you were here and we had our midnight lunch and breakfast servings there wouldn't be much left then! Went to church and prayed as always for my laddie. Didn't do much until late in the afternoon when Hazel & I went up the river to see how Jack & Johnny were coming on getting the boat house turned back. They worked this week-end on it. Leone said she wrote you about it. The poor pink elephants are so faded they look anemic - we will have to paint them on again. Malnutrition and neglect must had hurt them! Tonight we figured some more on the curtains and drapes and had Ardy's opinion added to Hazel's and mine. It takes a lot of considering as well as money but I think we have it planned out now so they are good and that you will like the way things looks. Can you write what division you are working in? And did they ever make the dog tags agree? If not (will you write me what the wrong number is? Today you have been much in my thoughts. But not more than always I guess except Sundays I'm free to think consciously during the time it is work hours other days. If thinking, loving, waiting and wanting my laddie is any help, then he is getting lots of help! There is no better husband than mine. I'm happy to be his wife. I can't say it any better. Love, Laura V...-MAIL POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT PERMIT NO. 1
