37 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa August 26, 1942 Dearest, It is nigh on to 10:30 and I'm just starting your letter. Hazel and Earl are here and we are about to make a start on choc cake and peaches. "We" made it this evening. Earl & Hazel made the frosting. She said to tell you it isn't as good frosting as you make because it is grainy. It will probably be hard tomorrow but it is dry enough to eat now without being too "gooey." We will have lots of these feeds when you are home. It is cool and I thought it would be nice to bake something and warm the house too. I called Hazel late in the afternoon so this is the result. Earl is running the radio for the news cast. This would be perfect now if you were
