Lincoln, Nebraska Monday 6 March 1944 Dear Laurie, You can't imagine my delight at receiving your letter! It was so good to hear of you, and I was interested in every word! I entirely appreciate your lovely invita– tion, and my mouth waters to accept, (Oh. but I'd love it!!) but I'm afraid I can't come. I just hate to send this answer. For the thought of having a good visit with you is tempting, and it would be so very nice to see the others, too! It was dear of you to write me.
