Fort Dodge Ia. May 22, '44 Dear Frances - I suppose Susan has written you about your mother - that she has Pernicious anemia and that Bessie is home now. She came last Thurs. and it is so nice to have her here. I do the best I can but am not strong. She took liver ext. shot every day for a few days and now takes then every other day. Tom takes her to town. The Dr. thinks he can help her and we'll all be hoping so. She is very weak and can't do anything and isn't supposed to anyway. Such a spring - trying to get any field work done. They got some corn planted but a lot of it is washed out. We had a terrible wind here Friday night. The house and barns were not hurt here nor any stock so there is lot to be thankful for. There must be at least a hundred trees uprooted
