Saving...
or broken off on this place alone - just one in this yard. Over on the highway - a mile west of here - several homes and barns were destroyed, lots of damage at Neudeck's. took the roof off their new house and destroyed farm buildings. They wanted 1000 volunteers to work over on that road today. They have guards (soldiers) to keep the cars moving. I wouldn't try to write today because I can't write well at all but didn't want to put off writing any longer, as Mom wanted me to write and thank you for your presents. The sweater was just right - she had said the day before that she needed one. The apron is very nice and we all had a taste of the candy but we save it for her. Mom dresses and comes out for her meals. The Dr. told Tom that if it hadn't been discovered when it was, she wouldn't have lasted a month. She doesn't know how bad she was. They'll make another blood test soon. Love Aunt Bessie
