Saving...
I don't know whether it will be a good idea to write on both sides or not, but I'd try it and if you can't read it just say so in your next letter. I tried to get envelopes for my other paper like I have been writing upon but Sanford's are out of it temporarily. You seemed to feel pretty bad this morning when you left. Then as a sort of last straw there was only standing room on the train. It was so very good to have you home but the uncertainty of your being able to visit again seemed so much greater that it was a cloud hanging while we were at the train. And before too for that matter. I'm glad we had so many good things to share while you were home. The reason for your furlough was sad, but I feel things went as well as we could ask. We seemed to be able to get all the problems settled by taking them up a few at a time. There is so much talk going on that I can't say some of the serious things I had hoped to so I'll not try now. I'd rather wait and write them down a little more fully tomorrow. I want you to be sure and get a letter every day so I'll take this
