46 817 - 19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 11, 1942 Dearest, Hazel is going to come over pretty soon and keep me company while I do some of my work. And maybe I'll loaf if she helps me do that! I called her up a bit ago So I'll write your letter now as I don't need help to do that and it won't be fun for her to "just set" while I write. And getting your letter written is the most important thing of the day. Lunched at home again today while reading your letter a lot of times. I hope they don't give you duties so that you can't write as the letters are the best part of the day. Sprague asked me yesterday if I heard from you. I said yes. He said every day? I said yes. He predicted you would get over that in a year, I remarked it wouldn't take long to be a year now. He guessed it would not and smiled pleasantly. He said he had your address, I suppose Fred gave it to him, and he figured he might write some day because you'd probably like to hear the gossip. He might know the gossip too?
