Saving...
817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 13, 1942 Dearest, Ten o'clock and Hazel and Earl just brought me home from Ray's. Emily had another of her excellent dinners. I had two big pieces of white meat chicken. Ray had his steak of course. I think I should have them over here since we've done so much visiting there and they keep on asking me, even though you are not here. They said tonight that every thing would be perfect around the table if you were there -- I sat opposite Earl and Hazel and there was extra space beside me. What do you think of my asking them to supper sometime soon? Of course I won't have the number of dishes Emily cooks but I'll have a good meal and won't serve anything Earl says Ray wouldn't like, and Hazel would help me. They know we didn't have company dinners when Mother was sick and it will be a long time I'm afraid before I can have company with you at the head of the table. I remember what a good host you were and how well you looked
