Saving...
obtained and the interests of all of us would probably suffer. I've thought a lot about what we said about you being Mother's favorite son. Geo feels that way, said so. I told you that and you said you didn't think so, Mother depended on your for action and decision but in affection you were equal in her regard. I believe that is exactly right. Mother was such a fine, and wise person. Even if she had call to be partial she would have controlled herself, but I believe your explanation is one she would feel was right. I was certainly lucky to have a mother-in-law like her. And that is another reason why I want to do this dividing business fairly, cleanly and with everyone in a good humor. I can consult, interpret, and palaver, but I don't want an endless job of that sort. Claude asked about you again. And Behrens greets me very specially it seems like when I see him since you have been gone. I went to Andersons study today and gave him $10. We did a lot of war talking and discussed the Catholic predicament we were in. He is a good fellow. This is a fat letter and so I'll close now. I'll be interested (I always am of course!) in your reactions to anything I've written. Your good letters are helping me get on. Dearest goodnight, laddie. Love, Laura [doodle of smiling stick figures] Did you make space for me?
