817 19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 21, 1942 Dearest, It is a quarter to eleven and Geo and Rose have just gone home. We did not do much in the attic except I gave them that breakfast set of dishes Mother bought that we never used. It was different colored plates for each person you may remember and I knew Rose would like them. We jawed for two hours over the accounts and bills, and income. We agreed heartily as far as I could tell. George is seeing the draft board tomorrow as to whether he can go farming or not. If they don't object, he thinks now he wants to farm. Two weeks ago he said he did not. He thinks it O.K. to buy the stove at $46 if I can't jew Balcor down. He will bring the truck license in tomorrow and I'll start that process. He figured if they will allow it, that we'd save 6 mos license as he couldn't claim any war use before March 1. I don't see why he figures he'll just take it then like it was his, but of course I ignored that like (or as much as) if you had been making the plans to use your truck instead of him using your truck.
