course I would not have come back to the office. But I felt better and had some medical cases I wanted to see to this afternoon if possible. You must have been hurried on your Sunday letter as you did not close it. But a good letter anyway. I'm glad the leave was a change even if it wasn't as good as if we had both been there. [Berson?] said I could take time off. He "was expecting that." "And this is war time ... unusual conditions ... in the cards that you might go overseas ... and the thing for me to do" were some of his remarks. Petty wasn't in today and I'm not going to say anything to Elmer.
