817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa September 27, 1942 Dearest, Most of Sunday afternoon is gone now. I don't know what struck me, but I woke up at 7 this morning. By the time I had the furnace fixed I was out of the notion of further sleep. That is a record Sunday rising for me as I stayed up and did a lot of little things. I guess I was so glad to feel almost like myself and had to try things out to see if I'd still feel good! And I do, except I'm getting a little tired now. I went to Cong church. Stopped at Alberta's a minute, on my way home to cook my vegetable dinner, to prove I was OK again. Uncle Earl was there and he talked of course. After dinner I had a little nap until a member of the visitation committee of Westminster woke me up. I was polite, naturally, but the poor fellow probably thought I wasn't giving him a warm welcome. I was half asleep and I knew him but he had completely forgotten me. I suppose the new home led him astray and I did not enlighten him. It was a job assigned to him and he did his duty nicely. Mr. Blackstone and Mr. Risser son of the old lady who called on Miss Calderwood and spoke so roundabout about the woman Miss Calderwood said "always was funny" both saw me this past week and so I know how they got their minds upon me. I find more help at Cong & Baptist services than I ever do from Mr. Blackstone's. But I'm not thinking
