in South Carolina, even to the design and weaving that is lots more souvenir than a hunk of useless wood of some kind that probably never even grew in South Carolina. I also got the blue service star plaque we saw last night. Maybe a little smaller than we saw, but thought it the best size for our window panes. Also got a black skirt on sale. Had to set the buttons over, did that, and wore it this afternoon with my long sleeved white blouse and red sweater and flat heeled shoes. Then in the sun I was almost too warmly dressed. But whenever I came to a patch of shade it was cooler and the clothes were just right. Going Joe College on you in an outfit like that. It will be cheap clothes to wear "reliefing" and warm enough too in the houses of reduced temperatures. When I got all set that way for walking, I took quite a stroll out east. I found a bowling alley. Saw First Pres Church. Just two blocks east of here -- long blocks -- . I'd like to attend morning service there with you Sunday. According to sign out, they must have quite a layout for soldiers' recreation. It is a large building plan. I was tired when I came back and fell right off to sleep. Did not wake up for more than two hours, and I really hadn't walked so far either. I told the maid today I thought the floor pretty dirty. She couldn't understand how that could be, but would sweep it. I notice now she improved it some but there is still a roll of dust by the phone stand. The two that
