817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa October 25, 1942 Dearest, Sunday afternoon again. I've put in a lazy, quiet day. I drank my salt water, ate breakfast at home and went to Cong. Church. Besides firing the furnace and sleeping that is all I have done. There are a number of jobs I should do, and I may get at them later. Like bringing in the plants from the garage -- as it is windy and seems to be getting much colder. Now I have a new place to sit to write your letters. I use the end of the walnut table for my writing space and put my feet on the tin frame above the register in the dining room. Thus I have light, heat, and space all closely together. Some good scheme, don't you think? Carnes house across the street has been painted a light gray color. Trellis etc is green. It is a big
