817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa October 28, 1942 Dearest, Just got back from Leone & Jack's so it is getting real close to bed time. You probably have already been in bed for an hour as it is 10:15. Today went pretty fast. I did a lot of work. I have more problem cases at work so my mind always has something to consider in my socalled leisure time. This morning I had a cup of coffee with Fed. It is been over a year since we had "tea" as he calls it. He talked to me about the army, the war, you, Ft Meade and a lot of other things. He thinks the reason it is so hard to have leaves at Meade or live out is because theoretically it is only a replacement center and so all men are to be on call to send out with
