817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa October 29, 1942 Dearest, Now it is nine o'clock and the scene is the breakfast nook table. Evelyn is across the table from me writing to her husband. She came home with me tonight and we had a waffle supper and did the dishes. Then I polished the silverware in my set while she started her letter. We have certainly done a gob of talking. We made remarks about different people on the staff and the bright talk was about our respective husbands and our hope and despairs in ever getting to live with them before the war is over. They feel about like we do and their problems are much the same. He had been in the army since march and they were married the Oct before. They are mature like us and he didn't expect to be called as he had been classified unfit once because of his eyesight. She is still Mrs Hunts secretary but she may ask for a leave if he gets located so she can go to him at Drew Field, Florida. It is raining now. It sprinkled a bit when when we went up to the grocery store before supper, but it didn't start to rain until a short time ago. It is very warm out now. I haven't built a furnace fire since yesterday noon and the house is 66 or more now. So you see it has warmed up a lot from last week. I took the Plymouth to Stemlors today to have
