817-19 St. S.E Cedar Rapids, Iowa December 14, 1942 Dearest, While my potato is boiling I'll try to get a note finished in time to be collected from the corner box. They usually get there to collect a while before the scheduled time - 7 - so I have to have it there earlier than that. I got a ride to 19th + Bever with Helen tonight and walked the rest of the way. That was a new experience for me and pretty good too. Just wait until I can walk part of the way home and then fine you there. That will be great then. Then I went to Leons for groceries and I'm cooking myself a plain square meal. I walked there too of course. Today went fine but I was just swamped at work. I had intake this afternoon and it happened I had to interview for about three hours straight. There were no bad scenes for ornery situations people made deliberately mean, but the stuff that came in all seemed to take a lot of thought and planning. That is O K but it takes more energy to do a constructive job on those things too. I'm certainly glad that I like my job. There is big news now that Cornell
