817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa December 16, 1942 Dearest, I sent you a little extra note that I wrote this afternoon at work. But I put only 3 [cent symbol] stamp on it so that this air mail letter may get there ahead of it. But you won't care if the letters get out of order in arriving, just so they do arrive. Tonight it was a wonderful surprise when I got home to find a second letter today from you. that is more than I ever hope for when I sneak home in the day to snatch the letter from the morning mail delivery. That makes the mail more caught up now. It is really coming through pretty well because the one I received this afternoon was written on Sunday and not post marked until Monday afternoon. I'm afraid Sunday was a pretty no account day for you. i'm sorry but I'm glad I can count on your telling me just however things are. And I'm glad you have some pleasant things to recall and that you feel we will have a good future being together when you come home from the army. Mr Behrends talked with me a while today. He thought you were in fine spirits when you were home. He said he was glad
