to describe things and maybe you'll feel better. The balsam twigs almost cover the mantel and go up to the metal candle fixtures on the wall. To the front and a foot or so from the clock I've place a pair of red candles in flat glass holders set among the balsam. A fireplace fire with twilight glow in it is burning and with furnace makes the temperature about 80 [degree symbol] now. A carillon is just starting to broadcast Christmas music. Johanna is "operating" the radio for that. On the dining room table I've placed the holly and a little log with pine cones and one red candle. All three candles mentioned are burning brightly now. While the fire was blazing brightly I wrote here by it without any lamp. Now the lamp Miss Gardner gave us is helping out so I can write faster. It is peaceful and quiet. The picture can't be good of course unless you are here too. But I'll try to set and keep a family scene when you are away so it will be waiting when you come back to it. I want to always help to keep the spirit of home and Christmas too for you no matter where either of us has to be. Things of the spirit
