I wish this letter could be read by you on Christmas day but there is no way to send it that fast. This afternoon while I was getting our car I stopped for the mail and got the good letter you wrote Sunday. It just makes all the difference between a good picture and a bad one -- in this business of living -- to have a husband like you write such loving letters. If we always keep alive such valuable things of the spirit as we have so far gained in the time we've shared our lives together, the picture of our lives when they are over here will be good and we will have justified our having lived. I tried write away to get Earl so he could ask Mr. Riley about a job today. I went to Hazels and the apt and finally found him. He said he'd ask Joe and Ray and see. About supper time he called and said Joe would write the letter Monday if I'd secure the details of whom to address. By the time you read this you will already have answered my telegram about this.
