817 - 19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa December 27, 1942 Dearest, Sunday evening and I'm at the new apartment. Have been helping on some more government work. Now Hazel and Earl are maybe cooking soup or something in the kitchen for lunch. Went to church today. Miss Vogt who lives on 19th had no ride so I took her home and visited there about a half hour. And then home for lunch. Started to hem a napkin in our good linen set. Finished one side of one. That is real progress for me! I called at Leone and Jacks before coming here. Jack is in the process of selling his ice boat. I'm to include the Steeles' and Aunt Min's greetings to you in this letter. I thought I was doing very well on recovering from my cold but just since I've been over here my throat is kicking up again. I'll go home early and dose it up. I need you to put brown medicine down my throat!
