817-19 St. S.E Cedar Rapids, Iowa December 30, 1942 Dearest, There are a couple things I don't want to forget to tell you so I'll put them down, unrelated or not, as I recall them. Everett Elliott's son is in the signal corp at Camp Chaffee Ark. He left December 15. I hop Mrs. Elliot doesn't feel as tough about it as she did when we were up there. A week ago there was a short item in the Sunday paper about the govt. planning to send inspectors to the old iron mine at Decorah to determine whether it could be used for production to help out the iron shortage. I still have my cold but I'm not sick now like I felt last week. The funny little voice I have isn't much use for talking! But my throat isn't sore today even though my voice is funny. I sure hope you have enough resistance to pass up all the little bugs. And if you catch one that you see to it you get all the care possible so it doesn't have a chance to get serious Don't worry about me as I'm getting
