No. 25 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. B. 21st Rep. Bn. 2nd Rep. Depot c/o Postmaster, APO 776 New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 11, 1943 Dearest, Because I wrote you a fat air mail letter today, I haven't so much to put in this one. But because the other letter may not be delivered as promptly, I'll send this too. After my company left I went to Hazel's for supper. Then I took them to the hospital to see Myrtle. She isn't sick but strained a leg much so that she has to have complete rest. She (Myrtle) mentioned how Alberta told the church circle last meeting of mother's $10 donation. They recalled her fine character and were surprised and pleased at the gift. I never let on to Myrtle I was the one who rote the check! The crocus blossoms are waving in the wind. It has been raining since about one oclock - a slow drizzle. The roof still doesn't leak, so I guess the repair job is going to be good. I'm getting a little excited now in the plans of cleaning up the home a little by the fresh decorating. I don't know when [Lake?] will actually get around to doing it, but I'm on the waiting list. When the lawn gets a chance to dry off I'll have a lot of work to do on it. But it will be fun. I'm glad we have such a nice place for home even if it takes more care than an apartment. To my husband, Love, Laura :)
