No. 27 Pvt Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C. 9th Bn. - 1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 13, 1943 Dearest, Worked at the office tonight. My steno. Mrs. [??] came home with me and we had a little supper. She took a box of dates to [Leone?] who hasn't been able to go out for a couple days because of a boil It is almost well now so she will probably work tomorrow. She is embarrassed about the boil so don't mention it. Today was the third red letter day since Jan 17 when you phoned me. Your letter of April 1 arrived today, [?? ?? ??] V-mail. That is wonderful service. I note your new address so I assume you'll have work on hand perhaps by the time you get this. I'm sorry my mail isn't getting through. Some undoubtedly will be lost and never get to you. But I've averaged more than a letter a day as I send 1 V-mail a day and then extra ail mail letters. If you ever do receive your mail, they will need to give you a leave to read it all! Today it snowed! Iowa has more weather surprises than you can shake a stick at. It was like frost flying, but enough so you could see it on roofs. I think it will be changeable yet for a while. I put back my chamois [??] spring [??] !! Whether you get my mail or not, I'm busy writing you. And I do hope you get lots of it soon. Love to my [laddie?], Laura
