No. 33 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C-9th Bn-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761 % Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 19, 1943 Dearest, After I wrote yesterday's letter I went to Steeles. Got a picture of Ray, Otis, Emilie on the front proch and the side porch so if it wasn't too dark maybe one will be good enough to send. Then I went to Mrs. Hamptons and we went out to the Cozy Inn and had a snack. Then she mailed some stuff to her air corps son and I mailed the letters I had for you. I got ice cream cones then at Dysarts -- weren't we juvenile! Home early and in bed soon afterward. May not get the child council job after all, as the order has come out "freezing" people in their present employment. The employment office doesn't know yet how that will apply. I am not uneasy, as it doesn't matter too much except I would rather have children to work for. I asked Hazel about completing my roll of pictures for you by her getting Earl someday when she is off work. She was very agreeable but Earl balked. And of course he is as stubborn as always. Naturally I said "O.K." He knew I wanted it for you but he thought it would only make you homesick and he doesn't like to have pictures taken. If my sending you pictures makes it tougher for you, then I'm sorry I ever thought of it. But last fall you asked me especially to get them and I shouldn't think it would be much different now. Tell me laddie, please. Then I'll know in the future. My love to the best laddie, Laura
