Saving...
Dearest, Monday night, but not wash day! No bean soup either. (Beans take ration points!) The usual office hours in town today. You ought to see what a fine job my ex-gardener client did on the lawn and flower beds. It OUGHT to be good at the tune of 50 cents an hour! I don't mind thought to pay that to get it into shape. I can do most of the work from now on myself. And he had good sense about the flowers, something I couldn't get by hiring a school boy. Carl says he will come over some evening and connect up the water for the outside taps. After buying wooden snakes to scare the pigeons away, I'm happy to report they do do the job! I was very skeptical but thought I could invest 20 cents and see. They say they use snakes to frighten birds from the Statue of Liberty. I'm not having anything done to the dead part of the elm tree. I think it is about the same and can stay until you are home to superintend the job. I'm glad I have the best husband in the world. Having him makes me happy in every way. Love, Laura
