No. 43 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C-9th Bn-1st Rel. Depot A.P.O. 761, % Postmaster New York, New York Mrs Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 29, 1943 Dearest, A week ago today Carl asked for the information to see if you could do army rock crusher work. I wonder if anything will come of it. I'm not putting up any hopes about it. I suspect if any action is taken you will know it long before I do. It rained and rained today. And the roads are really wet now. Farmers will have to hurry fast this spring. Miss Hartleb of DM child welfare came today. She and Mrs Hunt I drove out to Twin Towers for supper. Then I took them to Mrs. Hunts, went on home. Kate Engles father died suddenly last evening. I am planning to see or call Kate later. She is at Nelsons I guess. The drapes for the sun porch were all done, do I got them tonight at Killians. I'll clean the room before I try to hang them. They are plain, but look like fine material, so I am sure you will like them. It will be a pleasure to get rid of those very crooked curtains that are in there. I love my laddie. He has been good to me. And he has showed me so many real values. Love, Laura
