Saving...
Dearest, A lazy day for Saturday. Left the office at noon, had lunch with Mrs Hunt. Then I shopped alone for a while. Got a blue wastebasket for the bedroom and a ship picture one for the living room. Did a lot of looking around but not much more buying. Then home on the bus. Then over to Hazels with our little step ladder. She hid it and is going to get it out tonight for Earl to crawl into bed. You see they had the bed on a frame on the floor until they could have the whole bedroom suite delivered. Now they have the real bed stead and he complains it is too high! Their bedroom isn't big enough for that much big furniture, but they don't expect to stay in such small quarters always. And it is a nice suite, even if it isn't the kind I'd want for us. Hazel works only 1-1/2 days a week now and she is getting a chance how to really enjoy her home. I read in an old letter of yours to me how you thought our home a bit better than those of kin and friends. Its egotistical to feel that way probably, but I think so too. And I hope you always feel that way. I believe we both will. The paper says we can expect an improvement in V-mail service or I guess it was all mail service from Africa now. The war news today is [thrilling?] for [illegible]. I love my laddie. Goodnight, Laura
