No. 55 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 3749940 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa May 11, 1943 Dearest, Tonight I had Madeline Healy over for supper. We looked at all the flowers. Johnstons visited with us and I gave them rhubarb. Madeline's roommate is gone, Mary [Rozeman?] you remember, to the army nurse corp now. Stationed at present at Camp [Crowder?]. Hazel and Earl were out walking and dropped in for a few minutes too. Pretty late for them as it was 9:30 in the evening. He is still out at the Hall Bldg & on the day shift. I talked with Aunt Min too. She is getting almost all over the rheumatism, isn't that fine after all this time? Leone & Jack dropped me off at home after work. They are as good as always. Leone had a bad cold but is all over it now. I've certainly been lucky all this year as I haven't had a single cold. I've sneezed different times but nothing ever came of it! I started to dictate my notes for the talk to the Red Cross today. Other office work as usual. They predict cold weather again. Do you remember the Czech legend about the Three Frozen Kings when we have three cold days this time of May? I love my laddie. Every day I remember the prayers besides all my good thoughts for you. I'm in my place every night. I hope you get my mail even if you can't send much mail to me. Love, Laura
