No. 61 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa May 17, 1943 Dearest, Tonight there is more rain. Had office hours this afternoon of course. Then after work I ate supper with Esther Flitsch, her cousin who is a soldier's wife, & a Coe teacher's daughter. We had a big supper at the Harmony. Then they went to a show at the Iowa, but I came home. I've a number of small jobs around here, and I want to do them. Besides, I don't care to go to just any show, I want to see only certain ones or else I feel like it is a waste of time. I drove Polly to work since I didn't have a county car this afternoon. I'm sure glad we have a good car. I miss being able to drive all I want to. But when we are both here it will be more fun and by that time we'll be allowed to drive like we used to do. Saw Freddie on F Ave Bridge, we met in cars but of course there was no talking then. I'll have to get at my material for the Red Cross lecture on Wed. morning. I'm getting together a case that I did that is short. I'll let them study it for an example, but I'll have to get some other talk ready too. I hope it helps them to help the service men's families better. I have the best husband in the world. Love, Laura
