No. 64 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9thBn. 1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa May 20, 1943 Dearest, Late this afternoon the sun came out. The first time for a week to mention. Another day at work spent on the transient woman and not a great sight accomplished yet. That a few medicals kept me on the real jump. I've cooked supper and I'll stop now to clean up a little to visit Ruth Stookey. She is here from Corning NY visiting her in-laws. She was a special friend of mine in school. Home again now. I had a nice visit with Ruth. Then we went over to Blahniks and visited with Jewel and Richard. Jewel, Ruth & I spent all our form days at the same dining room table and in the same corridor. Ruth's baby boy is 16 mos. old and he is a splendid chap. You would like him as he is not mean nor too goody either, and he is nice looking but not pretty. I have a second breakfast some mornings at the Pantry on the corner east of Rudes. Leone drops in sometimes too. Our waitress has a son in Africa so we always get the news on mail from Africa. She has had more than I, and usually after she has had some mail, then I get some too. So it is a good sign to me to hear her news. I love my husband and no one else has a husband as good as mine. Goodnight, Love, Laura
