No. 68 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Ia. May 24, 1943 Dearest, Monday is wash day, but I did not wash! Mrs Hunt & I went to Reds to have the car checked as I am to take Alice Kirwin to Des Moines tomorrow for a child welfare meeting. Then we ate in Marion. Stopped at Jacks to get the sun visor on the car adjusted. Then I took Mrs Hunt home and came back to our house. I had to supervise Hargers putting in new fence posts and Johnstons getting their tomatoes planted! Finally I got into the house and then I had to talk on the phone. So you see I have a busy time with all those essential activities! I'm still not putting in our tomato plants until it is warmer and a little drier in the garden. Mrs Holton has not heard from Pat Farrell her son in Africa since a week more than I heard from you. So we have company here when the mail does not come. I hope you get what I send better than yours comes to me. I wonder if the snap shots, goggles and trench mirror ever got to you. I sent each at different times. If you want anything, I can mail it if I can take your letter to the P.O. showing you asked for the stuff in the package. Love, Laura
