No. 73 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa May 29, 1943 Dearest, Last night after supper I worked at the office. Flora typed for me. Today I worked until noon. Then I had lunch with Mrs Hunt. Then we went to Krebs to get flowers. We had none from the garden for the cemetary, so I bought two bouquets of soft pastel shades of snapdragons. I got the kind of sunken vases you like, so a small bouquet really looks nice. Carl arranged one and showed me how. He sends greetings to you. Both his boys are here now with medical discharges. Leone called me after she had been out to fix their lot. She thought the flowers we had were very pretty. I didn't get any of the gaudy oranges, reds, or yellows but the soft shades that blended. Then I had a hair do at the Commonwealth. Then I got the neighbor boy and we got after the lawn again. Joanie came about five o'clock. We went out then to clip around the stones and put up the flowers while it was the supper hour and so avoid some of the traffic. Then we went on to Twin Towers and had steak sandwiches. Then home for dessert. I still had some housework to finish and so did that. Joanie may get married this year. Bill is on his way back from Dakota to get another assignment to farming from the Iowa City board. I have ironing to do as I want to go to Minneapolis tonight. Ardy won't be there for more than two more weeks and she is expecting me and we get Monday off. Love, Laura
