No. 74 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa May 30, 1943 Dearest, I'm not writing this on Saturday really, but you'll see I've had a lot of projects on! And I've lots to write, so even if it isn't Saturday I'll write this just as if it were. Mother wrote Aunt [illegible] is holding her own after regaining consciousness so she may get on all right after all. I meant Sunday in the first sentence. I left this morning at 7:45 to go to Minneapolis. The train was seven hours late and I got up several times in the night to see just when I should get ready to go. The train made good time out of here and Ardy met me at 2 oclock. We had dinner then at her apartment. She showed me around the U. campus. They certainly have a nice set of buildings and grounds. I saw where you have been to the games. Army & Navy cadets are there in large numbers. We looked over the town a little but the weather wasn't favorable for much of that. We had supper then met Ardy's boss & wife at the Curtis. He interviewed me for two hours! He has one of the very best agencies in this part of the country. He offered me a job and it would be an ideal chance to learn special skills. But when I write my decision it will be no as we have the home here to keep. There is no career conflict against our home because I have a real husband. I love my laddie. I'll be in my place soon. Love, Laura
