No. 76 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. C-9th Bn-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761 - c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 1, 1943 Dearest, To work again after the long week-end and the good trip to Minneapolis. Mrs Hunt is on her vacation. Stuff went as usual at work & no mail yet from you. Maybe I'll have to buy another new mail box. I'll be glad when your letters come, but I'm not thinking I'm neglected by my laddie as I know he's doing the best he can. I phoned Lokers to deliver Albertas messages. Bobby goes to D.M & Donna graduates and Alberta said she would come home for those things even if she has to go back to help Aunt Maude again. I'm sleepy so I'll go to bed real early tonight. It is too wet to mow the lawn so I have a perfect alibi! Miss Taft hasn't told Ardy yet where she goes. It is the same old nonsense as when I worked for her and had to go into Des Moines in order to get to Centerville! Ardy has had a good year in school. She is better trained now than I. Of course she needs experience. She has lent me several texts that I'm reading with a lot of interest. Hazel said they were at Johns yesterday and saw George moving some stuff out to the farm. They never call me up, and I'll not call them except when a letter comes from you. Any time you write I always tell them so there can be no complaints. I do more than my share to be friends and that's enough. I love my good laddie. Laura
