No. 77 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420940 Co. C.-9th Bn,-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 2, 1943 Dearest, Early in the morning, and I'm writing last nights' letter. So it is already June 3 but it is June 2's letter. We, Hazel, Earl & I went to Steeles last night. We stopped and took away the wilted flowers from the cemetery on our say over. Had a nice visit at Steeles. Otis wasn't high, 8 milie had a nice new permanent and Whiskers had a haircut and a shave. Ha! Ha! I remember I said something in yesterday's letter about Georges. I don't know now what, but I don't want the impression I'm having a bad time with them because I'm not. I'm sure you understand but - thought I'd better mention again. I don't neighbor with them but things are no different than when you were last home. Rosie has no idea what it is like to have to get along alone and be responsible, but I'm not sure about that nor will I be trying to tell her. I don't care what anyone is able to understand just so long as you understand how I feel. And you are so good to me and love me when I'm "better" and "worse" (?) It makes me feel good just to think about my husband. Leone & Jack brought me home from work. Harper got his lawn mowed but I didn't because I went (illegible). Things are beautiful now. I have weeding to do in the garden. Had a nice bunch of asparagus for supper. Also some of our rhubarb. But it was not as sweet as usual. If you stand retreat I don't (illegible) you get ready. I always had to help you get ready for supper last year! Remember? Love, Laura
