No. 79 Pvt. Lloyd Davis 37420940 Co. C.-9th Bn.-1st Repl. Depot A.P.O. 761, c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 4, 1943 Dearest, A real nice day today. A good one to go exploring if you were home and we did not have to work. We will have lots of days like that when you are home again. ¶ I heard Bob Churchill was seen by Cliff Wilkins in Kansas City. They were on a troop train and got off to rest a bit and Cliff saw him. He sent word home to the Judge that he was being moved to Calif. ¶ I must tell you about my Sunday dress. It is a tight woven mesh, light blue background with medium polka dot (white). It is two pieced, big pearl buttons down the jacket front and the skirt is plain except for narrow front pleats. The collar and duffs are linen with organdy inserts. Maybe I'll wear it in a snap shot for you. I got it for my best summer dress and I'll wear it to-morrow at the Coe Alumni lecture. I'm to help there. I wanted dots for you. ¶ Wilma Houser & I ate supper at the KV Café. Then I took her home and stopped at Hazels. I'm finishing this letter at their place now. I want to mail it tonight as I want a letter to Mother to go too. ¶ Carl wrote to Ray and asked if I had heard anything of a transfer to crushers for you. He never heard any more. I never saw such a bunch of optomists as they are. And somebody has to do the fighting. ¶ I love my husband. I hope I help him with the letters and any other way. Tell me anything I can do. Love, Laura
