No. 91 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th Inf. APO 9 c/o Postmaster, New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 16, 1943 Dearest, Ardy is still home. Miss Taft is acting just like she did with me, only worse. She has had weeks to decide which town to send her, and now she writes she doesn't know, and says this will therefore have to be part of her vacation. Not knowing that before, plans with her family are all jumbled up. She has studied so hard I hope she gets a good place in the end. War news given to us is certainly encouraging now. If land can be taken by mostly air fighting the casualties certainly should be fewer. I think all the time of you, but I don't stew. I try to look at stuff like you have taught me, and I've done pretty well being tough. I'm glad we appreciated the small joys when we had them and that we lived so we can still have good things when we are so far from each other. Some try to tell me the war is about over, but I take no stock in such ideas. I know it will be a long time before I can set out to meet you, but I also know you'll always be my laddie no matter what happens, so I'm always ready and busy helping you. I hope you get your mail now. If you get all of it at once, you'll need a leave to get it all read. And I'm glad you assume I'm writing, but that the mail is just [illegible]. If you [illegible; bottom of letter is missing]
