No. 92 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th Inf. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 17, 1943 Dearest, It is late because I went to a show tonight, and I went alone, something I haven't done for years. There was a short "African Album" of shots of American camping in Africa. Tent rows, field eating, army nurses & Red Cross, landscapes and soldiers. I went to see that and it was fine. I didn't see you, but I have an idea how you live behind the lines. Then as long as I'd paid the ticket, I had to see "China." It is a propaganda movie showing Jap treachery. The acting and photography were good. The plot was ugly in order to tell the story of Japan's treatment of China. I had supper at Hazels, helped do the dishes and then went to the show. She had a nice meal and roast beef, an item harder to get nowadays. Earl teases about good looking girls and stuff like that. I think even if it is all in fun, it would be lots nicer if he did not do that. It is too apt to turn cheap or maybe hurt some day. Nothing to me of course as it is only what you do that is important to me. Summer is really with us now. Maybe the corn will catch up with itself now. Aunt Bess is better. Bess can't stop here on her way back to Detroit. Scottie was to be at the farm this week. To the best laddie, Love, Laura
