No. 93 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th Inf. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 18, 1943 Dearest, A real lot of projects today. Worked as usual, had supper at the Harmony with Mrs Hunt and Mrs Mulaneen. Then home and into work clothes. I hosed the house and the windows. Then the screens. Then washed and polished all the windows on the outside and put up the screens. That was a real evenings work. Ardy came before I got through so she carried around and handed up the screens and I got through easier than doing it alone. Otherwise I could not have finished in one evening. Lund was so impressed by the hose nozzle! Then we went to Ardy's and had elegant strawberry shortcake. Her mother visited with us and later her father came home from a lodge meeting. He is certainly a fine old man. He has had back trouble like you had and is not very spry yet. Ardy and I did a lot of child welfare discussing. Maybe Ardy will go to West Union. She would like to go there. And I think it would be a good place to start. The big thing for this letter is that I love my husband. I'll tell you every day, just like we always did, and as we always will. I'll be in my place soon. Love, Laura
