No. 95 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th INF. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 20, 1943 Dearest, Sunday again. That means another week gone and one closer to the time when you'll be home again. I went to church and sat in as near the same pew as we had as I could get. It was the first service since I knew you were safely out of the battles, so I had an extra lot of things to pray about. After church I came home and made cinnamon rolls. While waiting on them I did more house cleaning jobs. They were done about the right time and Leone & Jack came for me to go to Lewellas for a family picnic in honor of Harry Jr home on leave. Aunt Min was with them and we stopped for Uncle Lew too. All of Harry Sr. kin were there so I didn't know too many of them. I was the only one of the cousins invited. Because you are a soldier and I visit with Jack's was the reason I suppose. I think Harry Jr. looks fine. It is Jerry that is having the tougher time at Camp Roberts than Harry Jr is at Arlington. Jerry says it is so hot and the hikes are 30 miles long. They seem to be getting desert training now. Aunt Min is over her rheumatism but is sort of complaining in general. Uncle Lew isn't too spry, but is better than he was I think. The food was over abundant and as good as usual. Lewella sent home some strawberries and I'll have them for breakfast. All for this letter. I love my laddie. Goodnight, Laura
