No. 96 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co D 39th Inf. Regt. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. S. E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 21, 1943 Dearest, Monday's wash day, but I did not wash! I had a very busy day. I started my office work by a trip to Walker. Then office hours this afternoon. Then for supper ate at Knotty Pine with boss and Mrs. Mulgreen. Then because Mrs. Hunt asked to see the Jewish cemetery, we went there. Then Mrs Mulgreen was so amazed at the photos on the stones in Bohemian cemetary that I took them down to the Anderson cemetery to see monuments that had real size. Then home again. It was so hot no place was very pleasant. It was a week ago today that I received your letter written Memorial Day and sent you a cable. I will be interested to learn how soon it was delivered to you. Also, I wonder if you can recall what day you sent me the cable? And another thing, our press says King George went swimming with the service men. I must take that point up with you -- you may be traveling and swimming with kings while you ask me to stay in C. Rapids! That will take explaining. Ha Ha! Of course I'm really glad to be in your home and will be real glad when we both are in it. To my laddie, Love, Laura
