No. 99 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th Inf. Regt. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817 19th St. S. E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 24, 1943 Dearest, Washed clothes after came home from work. Ate lightly as it was warm. Then I went over to Leones. She had made four jars of strawberry jam so she thought it an [uncomfortable?] evening too. I got some Dysart ice cream and we ate that. Jack was up on the river boating. I met Mrs Doctor John three times today. She says he got the first mail to her Monday. It was five weeks and all had been written on ship board. He is in the Pacific Isles. The ship surgeon had only one case the whole trip and Dr. John helped with that. She seems in much easier spirits now. Expecting a baby and having those two active youngsters gives her a lot of responsibility. The bathroom mirror I took to your 3 Ave West [Jewelers?] to be resilvered I got back today. It seems to be a nice job. And I asked him about a watch for you. He was real interested in your activities and asked a lot of questions. He has a seven jewel Elgin I can buy cheaply and he states it should give you good use. So even though I can't insure it, I'll get it from him when he has the new strap ready. He is giving us two straps because its you and you're in the service. It will be more than a week before I can mail it as only one package a week can go and I sent soap & snap shots today. Love, Laura
