No. 102 (CENSOR'S STAMP) Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 30th. Inf. Reg. APO P c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis (Sender's name) 817 19th St. S. E (Sender's address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 27, 1943 (Date) Dearest, went to church. I think I remembered the important things while I was there. I have been home this afternoon. ate a light lunch only as I am to have dinner at 5 with Mrs Hunt +Miss Morris at the coffee shop. They invited me to go to a show but I have a better use of Sunday. The fan is blowing merrily in the middle of the floor and I've set up the card table and I am seated on the davenport writing this to you. I have a music program on the radio. with shades down etc. I've kept he house down to 86° so I'm lots better of here than driving around. They don't have a good laddie to write letters to. Last week I got behind so I wrote other letter to you today too, writing as I would have if I'd made them on the proper day. That way you know if each day like it happened. I think I've enough of the things done around here now so I'll now be able to really mail them on the right day in the future. Strikes are now outlawed in any place the govt is the operator so that really settles the coal deal. I'll bet the service men are glad of that. I got a good letter from Maurice. His address is Maurice Hutchison S 1/C. He apparently was promoted. Co B-5 26th U.S.N. Says he may get a cooks rating Const. Batt. Fleet P.O. soon. He is getting along OK. San Francisco, Calif. I love my husband. Goodbye laddie. Laura
