No. 104 (CENSOR'S STAMP) Pvt. Lloyd Davis 37420240 Co. D 39th Inf. Regt. APO 9 c/o Postmaster New York, New York Mrs Lloyd Davis (Sender's Name) 817-19 St. S.E. (Sender's Address) Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 29, 1943 (Date) Dearest, Tonight Esther Flitsch, the boss and I had supper at the Harmony. Then Esther and I came home and Bendy washed two batches of clothes. Then I ironed until 8:15. Then Esther & I went and took Mrs. Hunt up to see her daughter who is a counsellor at Camp Good Health. She is only sixteen and is in charge of a cottage of children. It is quite a responsibility but very good experience for her. The Camp nurse is Miss Neenan, who was Mother day nurse. I liked her a lot when she worked for us. So while Mrs. Hunt visited with Jean we went up to the infirmary and had a very nice visit with her. Then we came back to town an hour later. After getting both of them home, I came back to our house. It was quiet and had warmed up better compared to last evening. I have a rented book "The Day Must Dawn" which is a Revolutionary pioneer story of Pennsylvania. You would like it I think. There are more battles with Indians than you can shake a stick at! If I didn't gad around so much I would get more done at home. But gadding pushes time along a little faster. And I have to pretend to everybody but you. I love my husband. I'm helping every day. To laddie from War War. V...-MAIL
