No. 112 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co. D. 39th Inf. Regt. A.P.O. 9 % Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa July 7, 1943 Dearest, It was another pretty day. Just perfect weather. I mowed the front lawn tonight and part of the back. I'll get it finished tomorrow maybe. I'm in bed propped up by pillows writing to you. i've been here thinking about you quite a while before I started this letter. Leone and Jack gave me a ride home after work. I had supper here. I talked to Hazel & Lenore by phone. I've been reading an old novel I found in the attic. So you see it has been a quiet pleasant evening. Although it is after nine now, it is just dusk outside. I'm glad you know the letters are sent to you all the time even if they are not delivered to you right. I haven't missed a day this year with one letter, then the fat ones extra. If you did not have confidence in me you might think the reason was I did not write. I'll always write to you laddie even if I can't know whether they will get to you or not. The Lund boy is home today for ten day leave. He just finished basic at Camp Butner, N.C. Geo Fisher goes July 24. Harger boy has school deferment. I sure miss the secrets. I wonder if you'll be home for leave any time before the war is over. Whatever time you come, I'll be your "war war" until and after you arrive. Love, Laura
