No. 118 Pvt. Lloyd Davis, 37420240 Co D. 39th Inf. Regt. A.P.O. 9 % Postmaster New York, New York Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa July 13, 1943 Dearest, Sixth day off. Helped Hazel can 16 pints of beans. Real nice beans they got from Petraks. We used our pressure cooker and studied it all out as it was new to both of us. Today was such perfect weather it deserves special mention. So sunshiny yet cool enough. I went to the bank and put away the war bonds. I was up to Hannas & had a long talk with Mr. Crabbe. He was office mgr for ten years he said and now he has bought out Hanna and the name on the door is Crabbe. The same office however. Horon is gone into court reporting. Paid the bank box rent. We don't owe debts, even little current ones. I've got stuff in good shape I think, as I've done little jobs, (that have been waiting) while I had the vacation time. Ate with Miss Norris. We went to Linwood and they really have the foot stones placed, and flush with the ground too. Then I took her to the Czech stores and we bought some food, saw the stuff in the Harness Store window etc. Then home, talked with Leone by phone. And now all ready for bed. I've never missed being in my place, laddie. I love you. Laura
