No. 130 Pvt. Lloyd Davis Regt. A.P.O. 9 Mrs. Lloyd Davis 817-19 St. S. E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa July 25, 1943 Dearest, Sunday evening. I'm waiting to take a chocolate cake out of the oven. I waited so late to make it so it would not be so hot to have the oven running. It is Helen Jayne's birthday tomorrow and we usually have some kind of cake to celebrate. So I'm making it this time. They had one for me last fall when I came back from Croft. Uncle Carl passed on last night. Alberta called Jack. Leone & Jack D. were here a few minutes this evening. I called Geo. we will go in with the rest if the nieces & nephews on flowers. Uncle Lew will buy them up there. jack D. may go to the funeral. Aunt Min & Uncle Lew are I think. Visited this P.M. with Hazel. Carl had to work today. She had canned some apricots. Had dinner at noon at Twin Towers with Miss Norris. I went to Cong. & she went to St. Paul's then I picked her up. This afternoon I also wrote to Ardy and I sent a regular air mail letter to you. I mailed those letters and had a snack at Garnets. When I can get some film I will try to take more pictures. I'm wanting to fix some more for my laddie. I love my husband. Goodnight, dear. Laura [smiling face] V-Mail
